The PCL-5 can also be used to monitor symptom change during and after treatment. It will be interesting to see how the continuing expansion of the Play Store affects the low end of the tablet market. Kobo is unlikely to make significant headway against Amazon or B&N in the near future, but it's clear that they intend to stay in this fight for the long haul. Kobo is also launching new sections of its content store for magazines and children's books, which will be available on the standard Android and iOS apps as well. Featured Collections will use content that's hand-picked by Kobo editors. The Tegra 4 processor is more than fast enough to play the latest games with ease. The company is highlighting its Beyond the Book feature, which scans books for topics and aggregates web content that fits within that scope. In real world use, however, the slight dip in performance against the Samsung shouldn’t concern you greatly. It performs much as we expected from a Tegra 4-powered tablet, but doesn’t blow the competition out of the water. It’s worth remembering that that the Note 10.1 2014 edition packs an Exynos Octo-core CPU while the Nexus 10 features a dual-core CPU, 2GB RAM and a quad-core Mali T604 GPU. In the 3D Mark Ice Storm Unlimited test it also comes up with a respectable 13,889 score, again lower than the Galaxy Note 10.1 2014 (14276) but higher than the Nexus 10 (8642). The benchmarks scores back up its super-fast prowess scoring a 2,523 multi-core score in Geekbench 3, lower than the Galaxy Note 10.1 (2756) but higher than the Nexus 10 (1572). It zips through homescreens, boots up apps nice and quick, handles running multiple apps with little issue and is generally a very slick performer. The same can similarly be said of the Arc 10HD. We’ve seen a few Tegra 4 tablets this year and most have delivered a super-fast performance. The Arc 10HD is certainly no slouch in the power department thanks to the Nvidia Tegra 4 quad-core CPU clocked at 1.8GHz with 2GB of DDR3L RAM. Relatively easy to get to grips with and it’s a familiar experience youĬan expect to have with most other Android tablets. TypeGenius lets you adjust the type and size of a series of different fonts to make it more comfortable to read.Īs a slightly skinned Android operating systems go, the Arc 10HD is When you delve into an ebook there’s Beyond the Book, which sounds a bit like Amazon’s X-ray feature where you can highlight words and passages to access background information on the book. It sounds a bit like a glorified airplane mode, but will help to conserve the tablet’s battery life. You can also schedule the Reading Mode for certain times of the day to make sure you stick to it each day as well. This feature essentially turns off Wi-Fi, email, social network notifications and anything else that’s likely to interrupt your reading session. Kobo is all about ebooks so you can expect some extra bookworm-friendly features like Kobo Collections helping you to find new books and Reading Mode. If you are a buying a tablet for the first time it’s a nice, varied batch of apps to get you started. Kobo packs plenty of pre-installed apps including Skype, Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Rdio, 7Digital, PressReader to access over 2,000 newspapers and even includes a ‘Get Apps’ icon in case you are struggling to find your way to Google Play. The last homescreen is dedicated to housing all of your reading content in a virtual bookcase where magazines, ebooks, articles from the recently acquired Pocket, a book wishlist and user manuals can be organized. Swipe over to the second homescreen and you’ll find a huge Kobo widget giving you access to content, but which annoyingly cannot be removed. On the taskbar at the bottom you’ll find home, multitasking and back buttons grouped together in one corner and voice search, Google search and app launcher huddled together in the other. There’s just the three screens instead of the standard five homescreens on stock Android. It doesn’t take long to realise that it’s not an entirely untouched version of Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean, however, even if you do get access to the Google Play store and its superior collection of apps. When Kobo announced the Arc 10HD it said it would ship with an ‘uncompromised’ version of Android in a clear dig at Amazon’s decision to overhaul the operating system for its Kindle Fire tablets. It just muddied the waters and left the gaming feeling more standard to me when, otherwise, it could have been an interesting piece of interactive commentary.Įven setting those issues aside however, these forced firefights often come across poorly thanks to the game’s tone which aims low and never misses. Even so, it still feels to me like a revocation of the game’s efforts to throw you into some situations where you’ll face minor annoyances and then follow those up with gun-toting maniacs that are much out for your blood. You’re generally responding to someone else and the player can even find a stun gun which can be used as a less than lethal option to deal with threats. Now, it is worth noting that you’re not the aggressor in that situation. As far as I could tell from my numerous reloads, there’s no way out except fighting your way through them. At one point, for instance, you’re returning a library book when a group of anti-reading protesters (“Save a tree! Burn a book!”) storms the building and sets it on fire. The problem is that while it mostly lets you make your own choices, there are moments where it basically throws its hands up in the air, says “to hell with it” and forces you to start shooting people. Or at least I would if the game didn’t completely botch the concept. In fact, as far as rebuttals to the anti-gaming lobby go, I’d toss it up there as one of the smartest that anyone in the gaming industry could have come up with. In essence, the game is only as violent as you make it. It throws annoyances at you left and right, gives you all the tools to destroy them and then makes it possible for you to not do so. The game is rife with moments like this lines to wait in, rude people, protesters. Alternatively, however, you can just wait in line and accept a peacefully earned autograph like a normal person. When you arrive at it, you can kill everything that moves and pick up a signed book off of one of your victims. Take the aforementioned Gary Coleman book signing. That in mind, Postal 2 does everything it can to nudge you towards violence, but ultimately, it leaves you with enough choice that you can get through a lot of it without firing a single shot. Heck, look up any random school shooting in America and you’ll inevitably find some pundit suggesting that it’s all just a side effect of people playing violent video games. Gamers are far from being strangers to the antics of politicians and parent’s groups criticizing video games on account of the violent tendencies they supposedly instill in the people who play them. What makes Postal 2 interesting is the way it uses these tasks to make a point. You’ll find yourself faced with daunting objectives like picking up milk, returning library books, and getting Gary Coleman’s autograph. For its considerable flaws, however, it’s a game with some honest-to-Odin ideas and, whatever other fumbles a game might make, ambition is something I can always tip my proverbial hat to.ĭropping you into the shoes of the disgruntled, trench coat wearing sleeze-ball politicians and parent’s group like to imagine gamers to be, the game starts off on the Monday of a week filled with everyday tasks. Even on the mechanical level, it’s far from the best shooter I’ve ever played. While it tries to sell itself as satire, the game is packed with humor and stereotypes so distasteful that I was frequently left cringing. Granted, there’s a lot more about it that I wholeheartedly disliked. I’d be lying if I said I didn’t like Postal 2 at least a little bit. (Note: This review doesn’t cover the Apocalypse Weekend expansion.) Originally released in 2003, Postal 2 has some interesting ideas but buries them under stinking mounds of tasteless humor, failed satire and mediocre shooting mechanics that make it barely worth booting up. It is also possible to restore the ghost siren by losing a life during a round. It is possible to fix the audio during a round by running out of lives and using a continue. This affects normal rounds as well as the second tutorial. If the "Round Clear!" transition is not skipped, the background music and ghost siren will not play in the following round. In Pac-Man Arrangement, 5.0 and onward builds of Dolphin have an issue playing the background music and ghost siren under specific circumstances. Letting the "Game Over" sequence in Normal Mode or the "Round Clear" sequence in Puzzle Mode play out will cause the music for the next scene to be completely absent (whether it be a new puzzle stage or the high score screen).ĭuring the intermission cutscenes the intermission theme will cut off a little early, resulting in the whole song not being played. You can set her up to not be blocked, or use her to defeat something with ease. Bladesurge swaps Irelia with an ally and costs 0 mana. However, when allies attack, she also creates a copy of Bladesurge for you to cast. Now she’s a 4/3 Quick Attack, and she still creates that Flawless Duet. When she levels up though, that is when she’s truly terrifying. Every time you can attack, you get to Blade Dance, regardless of what else you have going on. Flawless Duet is a spell for 1 mana that has you Blade Dance: 2. Irelia is already a 3/2 Quick Attack, and creates a Flawless Duet in your hand when summoned, and on Round Start (if you have the attack token). All of these Blades and Sand Soldiers do get summoned. Having this out before Blade Dance means we get an extra attacker every time! If that 1/1 hits the enemy Nexus, it deals an extra 1 damage.Īzir leveling up requires you to summon 10 units. Emperor’s Dais is a 2-cost Landmark that has you summon an attacking Sand Soldier whenever allies attack. Between the Blade Dance and Emperor’s Dais, we can hit both champs level-ups easily. You can probably see that it’s not hard at all to get allies attacking. Irelia levels up after 12+ allies have attacked. Both of these champions hinge on us attacking often. That means you can bounce Blossoming Blade back to hand, and drop that spare Ribbon Dancer back onto the field!Ĭonversely, you can use it to play Azir or Irelia. Return is a 1-cost spell that summons an ally that costs 3 or less from your hand. We actually really want to recall stuff in this deck! We can also use Retreat to recall and ally, and create a Fleeting Return in hand. Homecoming at least also makes your opponent recall a unit or landmark too, and at 4 mana, that’s a steal. With that said, let’s look at the best of the best! No game archetype feels unplayable right now, which is something MTG Arena may not be able to say. When I look for deck types, I want it to be efficient, but I also want it to feel enjoyable to play. We’ve got some fun decks, that also stomp people in efficient ways, and that’s what I’m after. I’m excited to see so much growth for Legends of Runeterra, that’s for sure. I’ll cover the three best decks and a selection of the Tier 2 decks that also stand a great chance at winning you games. A trio of deck archetypes stands above them, though. A lot of Shurima decks are in the top right now, and there are a ton of Tier 2 decks. The meta has shaken up in a really interesting way. Can you guess which? Spoiler, it’s Irelia! Now, we may not see a ton of Guardians of the Ancient cards in these decks, but the designs here are the ones that are actually winning in the game right now. At least one of the decks features a new champion. I can confirm that at least one of them did, and it was a pretty new concept (dubbed by some as Aggro-Combo). I’m very curious to see if any of the Guardians of the Ancient cards and decks we highlighted for Legends of Runeterra wound up being overpowered. But there are decks that stand head-and-shoulders above all the others and with good reason. You can take anything to the top if you’re creative and lucky enough. Can any deck win in a CCG? Of course, it absolutely can. This is especially true when you want to be competitive. We’ve spent a little time waiting on Guardians of the Ancient to shake up, so it’s time to look at the best Legends of Runeterra decks for May 2021! There’s a huge difference between “fun” decks and “the best” decks in a card game. By Jason Parker in Legends of Runeterra | May, 28th 2021 There are two notable Shadow Creatures players will come face to face with when they are below 15% Sanity in Don’t Starve and Don’t Starve Together these are the Crawling Horror and the Terrorbeak. SHADOW CREATURES (EARLY-TO-MID GAME / EASILY FARMABLE) NOTE: In Shipwrecked players can kill Crabbit Beardlings. You might be able to avoid storing your Mushroom Caps in the Ice Box if you have enough Living Logs to refuel said Mushroom Planters, making Gears less of a necessity. Using Mushroom Planters will also make sure that you always have a stack of the Mushroom Caps available at your disposal. I would recommend building yourself some Mushroom Planters to ensure that your Mushrooms are always kept fresh. Although players will benefit from killing Beardlings by receiving Nightmare Fuel, the hope in single-player is to receive Beard Hair as it is used to help construct Meat Effigies, which are one of the only ways players can respawn in single-player Don’t Starve.įarming Beardlings for Nightmare Fuel can be done quickly, as mentioned, by using Green Caps to lower (or raise) your Sanity whenever needed. In my opinion, 40% chances are not worth it and players will profit from Morsels much more than Nightmare Fuel or Beard Hair, especially in Don’t Starve Together.įarming Beardlings makes a lot more sense when players are in single-player Don’t Starve as players experience higher risks when dying. If you’re someone who relies on Rabbits for food, I would make sure to always keep an eye on your Sanity so you never pick up traps that contain the wrong form of Rabbit, although players can also eat a Green Cap or Cooked Green Caps to increase or decrease their Sanity quickly in hopes of transforming the Rabbit/Beardling into the Rabbit form they desire.īeardlings are not considered a steady supply of Nightmare Fuel and I would recommend that players avoid using this method to regularly farm fuel. Beardlings act exactly like Rabbits, though they have a 40% chance to drop Monster Meat, 40% chance to drop Nightmare Fuel and 20% chance to drop Beard Hair. When players are under 40% Sanity all Rabbits in The Constant, including those who are currently in traps, will become Beardlings. BEARDLINGS (EARLY GAME / NOT ALWAYS SUSTAINABLE) The following are the Mobs that drop Nightmare Fuel, how easy they are to farm and whether or not they are a sustainable source of Nightmare Fuel. The reality is that many Mobs that drop Nightmare Fuel are tough and will require players to fight “risky battles”, but that’s not to say that you have to fight the toughest mobs. One of the methods of collecting Nightmare Fuel is by killing Mobs. At the end of the day, the methods in which you grind Nightmare Fuel will depend on your spawn, what character you are playing and what resources you’ve been able to farm out before you are ready to settle down and collect Nightmare Fuel. Nightmare Fuel can be farmed in a variety of ways, including killing certain Mobs, destroying certain objects and Structures or if players have a Prestihatitator they can trade in Dark Petals, though I will deep dive in specifics shortly. So, what are the best ways players can gather Nightmare Fuel and what are the most effective ways players can use Nightmare Fuel in order to progress in Don’t Starve and Don’t Starve Together? Let’s get to cracking! HOW TO GET NIGHTMARE FUEL? While there are safe ways for players to farm Nightmare Fuel, which requires little to no combat, safer alternatives or methods to farming Nightmare Fuel tend to be a lot less effective or even useless in comparison to killing Shadow Creatures when insane. Nightmare Fuel is a resource that is understandably scary to farm as it requires players to become insane for extended periods of time in order to farm it. I have to admit that it took me a while before I decided that Nightmare Fuel was worth spending the time farming, but that mostly has to do with how many things there are to do in Don’t Starve and Don’t Starve Together. Lattimer, The birth of neutron stars, Astrophys. Raffelt, Stars as laboratories for fundamental physics: the astrophysics of neutrinos, axions, and other weakly interacting particles, Chicago Univ. We conclude that supernovae broadly provide a sensitive probe of new lightly-coupled particles interacting with muons. We constrain muon-coupled axions from arbitrarily low masses up to about 200 − 500 MeV, with bounds extending down to axion-muon couplings of approximately 10 −8 GeV −1. We also extend previous work on axion-muon couplings by examining the importance of loop-level interactions, as well as performing calculations over a wider range of axion masses. We constrain Z′ bosons with masses up to about 250 − 500 MeV, and down to about 10 −9 in Z′-muon coupling. For the first time, we find constraints on generic Z′ bosons coupled to muons, and apply our results to particle models including gauged L μ −L τ number, \( \mathrm \), and gauged B − L number, U(1) B−L. Contrary to the majority of previous SN1987A studies, we examine the impact of Z′ bosons, axions, and axion-like particles (ALPs) interacting with the muons produced in SN1987A. New light particles produced in supernovae can lead to additional energy loss and a consequent deficit in neutrino production in conflict with the neutrinos observed from Supernova 1987A (SN1987A). |
